FacetWin Downloading Tips & Help

• You may want to bookmark the previous platform specific download page so you can easily return if you have download problems or if you want to download an upgrade later. Otherwise you'll have to go back through the "platform selector" form and re-answer all those form questions.

• It is VERY IMPORTANT that you download the FacetWin installation files without modification by your browser. Do not use WinZIP or a similar utility to decompress the download files. FacetWin's installation script, "install.sh", will take care of decompressing and unarchiving the "facetwin.z" file.

• To avoid having your browser automatically try to decompress or display the download files, with many web-browsers, you can use the RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON and select 'Save Target As' or 'Save Link As' to download them directly to your disk. Download all three files this way. If your browser does not support the use of the right mouse button, find out how it does direct file downloads and use that method, or call us and we will try to help figure it out.

• After you download the three FacetWin installation files, (You did get three files, right?) follow the installation instructions in the "install.vi" file. The UNIX installation is started by putting the "facetwin.z" and "install.sh" files in the same temporary subdirectory on the UNIX system and then running the installation script:

  Assuming the files are in "/tmp"...

        cd /tmp
        sh install.sh
