FacetPhone Version 3 Released

Includes wide range of new features and hardware compatibility

FacetCorp (Plano, TX, USA), a leading provider of on-premise IP-PBX telephone systems for small to medium size businesses, announced a wide range of important enhancements to the FacetPhone system. With the release of FacetPhone Version 3, support has been added for several key media gateway and telephone options. Version 3 also provides a number of major software enhancements.

Support has now been added for large media gateway configurations. Gateways are now available in 16 and 24-port units, in addition to the existing 4-port and 1-port units. The 16/24-port gateways are available to support customer phone extensions or stations, and come in standard 1U rack mountable units. The FacetPhone architecture is different from most phone systems in that the media gateways are connected over the network and do not go inside a computer server. This design approach yields better scalability, reliability and maintainability. FacetPhone Version 3 also includes support for IP phones. These telephones, with the FXS media gateway port and a network switch imbedded within them, provide a cost effective alternative for businesses and especially for teleworkers.

With FacetPhone Version 3, the entire graphical user interface has been revamped to provide a Windows look and feel. While customers can continue to customize their user interface, FacetPhone’s new GUI will be a comfortable fit for customers working in MS Windows environments. Also in Version 3 is a more comprehensive implementation of call recording. Users may now record all of their calls, or they may record portions of selected calls on an ad-hoc basis.

FacetPhone V3 includes the ability to forward voice mail messages to an entire group (for example, a technical support department) either with or without a prefix message. Centrex call transfer has been added for customers who have a Centrex call transfer service. FacetPhone will take advantage of the Centrex capability so that none of the company’s phone lines are tied up when a call is transferred off premises. And V3 has a new speed dial capability for customers that want to keep a centralized list of customer or vendor phone numbers making it extremely easy for employees to make these calls.
