About Us Contact US Where to Buy Technical Notes X-Lite Installation and Configuration Notes FacetPhone (build 660 and greater) now supports a SIP softphone application that can be downloaded from a third party vendor: First, setup the configuration on the FacetPhone side.  Define the new IP phone with properties like the image included below from the FacetPhone GUI ip-phone sheet. The settings particular to X-Lite are the manufacturer type of "Generic SIP IP phone", "Dynamic IP address", and "Transmit digits as RFC 2833 packets" checked. You don't need to fill in the MAC address and all the other settings can be like you want them. Now startup the X-Lite application. You can close the video window because we don't support that yet! There are three buttons at the top middle of the phone.  The left one that is a down arrow is for the menu.  The Devices screen under Options is where you will configure your audio devices.  There isn't anything on the Options screen that we are dependent on so you can set any of that up like you want it. The "SIP Account Settings" option is where you configure X-Lite for FacetPhone.  Add a new account.  See the sample image below for an example of the Account tab info for FacetPhone.  The relevant things to define are:      *|0|91xxxxxxxxxx|9[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|8xx1xxxxxxxxxx|8xx[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|1xx|[2-5]x|#1[1-2]1xx|#131xx|#2[1-2]1xx|#231xx|#24x.#|#3|#4x.#|#5|#6|#0 SIP Softphone for FacetPhone FacetPhone GUI sceen to add a new ip-phone X-Lite properties Account tab to define the connection to FacetPhone Home  "User name" must be "NNN" where NNN is the station number as it is defined  on the FacetPhone system.  "Domain" is the IP address of the FacetPhone server. Check "Register with domain and receive incoming calls". Select "proxy" and give it the address of the FacetPhone server. Under "Dialing Plan" copy/paste the following text line, and click OK. Additional Information: The free version of X-Lite is not compatible with iMac 10.6, but there is a commercial version that is. See this link for the eyeBeam version of the softphone from Counterpath: The X-Lite softphone is usually used on a laptop for remote user access. This configuration works best with an added USB headset that will work separate from your PC’s soundcard connection. The USB headset allows the PC speaker to provide the ring sound that is independant of the headset ring sound. This allows you to hear the ringing sound without having the headset on. X-Lite only supports 32 bit OS platform. Commercial Bria product supports 64 bit OS platform. To place a call, dial the number first and then click the off-hook button (green phone on the left). If you experience problems with one-way or no-way communication when your call has been established, you should try disabling some of the unnecessary codecs in the X-Lite Options tab. Select the Advanced button and remove all codecs except for the ones using G711. Also remove the video codecs since we are not currently using them.
